Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda 27/06/2025

Algeria welcomed Friday, in Washington, the signing of a peace agreement between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Republic of Rwanda.

The conclusion of this agreement marks a major step forward toward the lasting restoration of peace and security in this African region that has endured years of violence and fratricidal divisions.

Beyond the region, this agreement restores diplomacy to its primary purpose of peacefully resolving disputes and sets the path for other areas of tension, crisis and conflict in Africa to achieve the same peaceful negotiated solution.

Algeria expresses its full support for the effective implementation of this agreement and hopes this positive development will extend to other unstable regions in Africa, with the aim of fostering the emergence of a stable continent whose enormous potential will be exclusively focused on development and prosperity objectives.
