From the Depths of Memory to the Horizons of the Future

On 17 October 2026 at 11:00 a.m., the Embassy of Algeria in Sofia commemorated the National Day of Migration, marking the 65th anniversary of the 17 October 1961 demonstrations, in tribute to the memory of our martyrs and in remembrance of the sacrifices made by members of the Algerian national community and their contribution to the glorious War of Liberation.

On this occasion, H.E. the Ambassador of Algeria to Sofia underlined the importance of preserving our national memory and passing it on to younger generations, as a lasting tribute to those who fought for Algeria’s freedom and independence. She also stressed our collective responsibility to strengthen the younger generations’ bond with their homeland and to further encourage the Algerian community abroad to contribute to the country’s future.

H.E. the Ambassador also highlighted the importance attached by Algeria’s highest authorities to the well-being of Algerian nationals abroad, as well as their continued commitment to protecting their rights and interests and to strengthening their enduring ties with their homeland.

Commemorating this anniversary is an act of remembrance and tribute, but also a renewed commitment to carrying forward the legacy of those who came before us — from the depths of memory towards the horizons of the future.
